The Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel – Russell Square, London
Address: 1-8 Russell Square, Bloomsbury, London, WC1B 5BE
We stayed at the new remarkable Principal Hotel ( now The Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel) in London for a one night stay. The Hotel is a spectacular Grade II* listed building which gives you the feel of grandeur as soon as you see it. When we entered the hotel, the interior was as fabulous as the exterior. The contemporary interior design gives an injection of modern to the beautiful historical building. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, which of course all flocked to Yianni to say hello – something he was extremely happy with!
We were early for our check-in so we checked in our bags and waited in the lovely Burr & Co. We got a corner table with windows, where we could watch the London life go by with a great latte, a pot of peppermint tea and some treats for Yianni – perfect peaceful start to our time away.
We were then taken to our beautiful room, where our luggage was ready and waiting for us. They showed us the amenities of the room and left – not before giving Yianni, the attention that he was asking for!
As soon as the door was shut Yianni commenced his search of the room as always! It wasn’t long before he found the treats that had been left for him, along with his own dog bed and bowls. The bed was great but it was a little firm, so if your dog prefers a soft bed we would recommend bringing their soft blanket or bed if they would prefer. As Yianni eats a raw diet, the mini fridge was perfect for us to keep his food in during our stay.
While Yianni did his thing we did the same. The first thing I always check – the bed! Wow, the bed was an absolute dream! Not too soft and not too hard, with luxurious soft bedding. Next, to the bed, they have a cool retro looking one dial red phone that gave a great pop of colour to the room! Our en-suite had a walk in shower with rain shower head which was a big plus.
Being a pet owner one of the first thoughts when taking Yianni away is – where are they going to go to the toilet – especially in London?! Luckily for us across from the hotel is Russell Square which was perfect to stretch Yianni’s legs. Just as we went to take Yianni for a bathroom break the heavens opened and of course, we didn’t bring an umbrella with it being summer! But as we got to the entrance of the hotel we were greeted with staff and umbrella’s to take out!
Where is dog-friendly in the hotel? You are able to go into Burr & Co and Fitz’s bar with your pooches, but unfortunately, you cannot go into the hotel restaurant. The lovely staff of the hotel offered us a 15-minute check-in service for Yianni while we dined in the hotel, which was amazing. We went for cocktails at Fitz’s which we would recommend if you are visiting the hotel!
Those little extras
When you stay away it’s those little extra’s which can make you feel there is a personal touch to your stay. From the tasty complimentary patisseries, Retro tin of treats, Fresh milk for tea & coffee and even the treats for Yianni.
Closest Tube Station: Russell Square Tube Station
Resort Parking: Unfortunately there isn’t any parking on site but the car park the hotel recommends is located around 5 minutes’ walk from the Hotel.
So would we visit again as a dog-friendly hotel? Yes without a doubt! A great place to stay with your dog in London.
