An Interview with Wildly Blended - Natural Dog Supplements
At Aurora Pets we believe in a holistic approach to treating dogs, the harsh chemicals and toxins from flea, worm, antibiotics and other medicines can take their toll on our pets bodies affecting their gut health and immune system. When we interviewed Wildly Blended we fell even more in love with their ethos, products and dedication to provide the best quality supplements for our dogs.
1. Can you tell us about Wildly Blended and what inspired your brand?
Wildly Blended is an online holistic pet shop where you can find a wide variety of products that are natural, high quality, responsibly sourced, and affordable for the average pet owner. After we brought our Golden Retriever, Abel, home from the breeder, I dove head first into canine nutrition, and got certified. Golden Retrievers are prone to so many health conditions. I didn't want him to be yet another statistic. So, we started him on a biologically appropriate diet. In addition to the raw diet, I researched and studied canine herbalism, and also became certified in acute canine herbalism. In order to help prevent some of the health concerns Abel was prone to, I started making him a custom herbal supplement that was specific to him and his needs. After a period of time posting the supplements on his Instagram account, they gained a lot of interest from other pet owners. I started making and selling custom supplements. My side hobby organically grew into a business that I never intended to start, but has grown exponentially over the last couple of years. I look to my own dogs for inspiration for new products, as well as what is available on the market. I either try to come up with something new that's never been done before, or a better, safer version of what's out there.

2. How do you source and ensure the quality of your ingredients?
This took me a very long time to do! I try to source as much as I can locally. This way, I can drive out to farms, meet the farmers, see the condition of the animals, and get my hands and eyes on exactly what it is I'm buying. If I can't find it locally, I will research the supplier and ask them questions about sourcing, their processes, ask for documentation, etc. For all of my supplements and topicals, I will only use USDA Certified Organic and again, I will ask the company where items are grown, how they're harvested, and batch number certifications (when necessary). All animal products are free from antibiotics, vaccines, hormones, and grain. They're naturally reared and well cared for.
3. What are the biggest influences for you and your products?
I can't say that there is any one particular company or product that influences me. There are so many incredible brands and companies out there that have amazing products. With that being said, I just stay in my lane and do my own thing. I have an extremely good work ethic and as a veteran, I take pride in my work, which is something that is instilled in you through the military. If I'm not happy with how something has turned out, it's not being sold in my shop. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so quality control, the quality of the ingredients, and safety is of the utmost importance. What really drives me are my customers and their pets. I love a happy owner and a healthy pet, and I get so much satisfaction knowing I'm making a positive difference in their lives.

4. Can you tell us more about Abel's diet?
Abel eats a biologically appropriate diet, which consists of edible bones, meat, and organs. I enlisted the help of another canine nutritionist, one who is accredited and has much more experience than I do, that formulates NRC/AAFCO/FEDIAF balanced recipes. I purchased a few recipes and make his meals myself, using all pasture raised animals that I sourced from my local farmers (the same suppliers that I use for my treats). I use all my own supplements and treats in rotation as well.
5. Can you tell us about Abel.
Abel is 1/2 American and 1/2 English Golden Retriever. He is such a good boy! He essentially grew up with our youngest daughter. He follows her around the house, lets her lay on him when she reads books, she brushes him, and he's just so calm and gentle. He LOVES the water! If he sees a puddle, I don't care how big it is, he's going in it! He's just such a happy go lucky boy, and super handsome at that!

6. What is your favourite activity to do with your Abel?
Going to the lake or hiking with Abel is so much fun. We try to throw sticks or balls as far out as we can, so that we can see just how far he'll swim to retrieve it!
7. Can you describe Wildly Blended in three words?
