An interview with MiaCara - Stylish Dog Accessories and Luxury Dog Beds

MiaCara is a German designer that we are proud to stock at Aurora Pets. We fell in love with this brand because their products not only offer stylish dog accessories, quality and comfort for your dog but to compliment the style of your home too. From the soft, fluffy faux fur of the Capello bed to the elegantly clean lines of the Trogolo dog bowl, their implementation of different materials in a sophisticated way is to be admired.

Please read on as MiaCara shares with us how their journey started and continues in the pet industry.

Aurora Pets: Can you tell us a little about MiaCara and how it started
MiaCara: We create beautiful, functional products for design lovers and their pets. The brand was founded in 2011 by husband and wife team Sebastian and Barbara Zweig who conceived the idea for a range of dog products that are both functional and beautiful.

Aurora Pets: What is the inspiration behind the MiaCara brand?
MiaCara: Our collection embodies the design philosophy “form follows function”. This means that we create our products first and foremost to meet the needs of the animals. At the same time, we get our inspiration and influence from contemporary interior design trends. We work with a number of internationally renowned product designers, but also design products ourselves.

Aurora Pets: What is your brand philosophy?
MiaCara: All products in the MiaCara collection are characterized by a sophisticated and unique design. We focus on high-quality material and first-class craftsmanship. Our products are mainly manufactured by hand and with great attention to detail.

Aurora Pets: What is special about the Capello and Felpha cushion design?
MiaCara: Both luxury dog beds of the Capello cushion and the Felpa cushion are made of faux fur. Felpa was one of the first dog cushions we created and is still one of our customer’s favourites. Both luxury dog cushions have our signature inner cushion made from high resilience foam which remains elastic, even with ongoing use. Also, all MiaCara cushions are washable, even the faux fur covers.

Aurora Pets: What was your first design?

MiaCara: Amongst our first products was the Divano dog cushion. MiaCara was founded soon after our founder’s Labrador Cara refused to sleep on her new dog cushion because she didn’t like the filling. As founder Sebastian had been working in the furniture industry, he was already familiar with high-quality materials and had the know-how to create a comfortable dog cushion that meets the needs of the animal. Our dog cushions have been one of our most popular products right from the beginning.

Aurora Pets: How do you test your products?
MiaCara: Comfort, quality and durability are at the heart of the brand’s values. The materials used for MiaCara products are carefully chosen. We get inspired by our own pets, and they are usually the first ones to test new products.

Aurora Pets: How would you describe MiaCara in three words.
MiaCara: Design. Life. Style.

Translated from Italian Mia Cara means ‘my dear/my darling’ – definitely a description we can relate to when it comes to our dog!
